As many of you know, W.C. Cupe Schools are growing daily.  We are excited about the growth and to announce some changes that will take place structurally.  W.C. Cupe “Family of Schools” will continue with the same breakdown in grade levels as discussed before with some changes, as follows:

                        Grades K – 2
Located at the main campus of 1132 Windsor Avenue, has been affectionately named Midnimo School.  This coincides with the small “family” atmosphere that is exuded here and allows this grade group to operate under its own identity within the W.C. Cupe “Family of Schools”.  Midnimo means unity or togetherness, which is so appropriate for that environment since this is the age where there is extra care and nurturing that takes place for our young students.  In addition, the students currently and will continue to receive multi-cultural experiences through literature and fine arts.  Direct Instruction and an emphasis on the early development of literacy and math skills will continue to be a focus of this school.

                        Grades 3 - 5
This grade group once the new building is completed will be located with the Middle school students at the 1465 Oakland Park Avenue location.  This grade group will continue under the original school name “W.C. Cupe College Preparatory School.  These grade levels receive great emphasis on developing basic language arts and math skills through intensive Direct Instruction.  The emphasis in this school will be to help students develop the academic, study, and social skills that will lead students to strive for a college education as well as to achieve academic excellence.

                        Grades 6 – 8
Educational Academy for Boys & Educational Academy for Girls will also be located at the new building upon completion of the construction.  These middle schools will continue the academic rigor that began in grades 3 through 5 with the goal that students view themselves as potential college/university students.  There will continue to be a strong emphasis in these schools through Direct Instruction on helping middle school students acquire higher level critical thinking skills, develop a strong character with a sense of community responsibility, as well as the development of the habits that will lead to higher level academic achievement and excellence.  Students in the middle school will be offered many opportunities to develop their leadership skills and to become productive citizens.

Please feel free to contact the school administrative staff if you have any questions or wish to further discuss this information.

Yours truly,

W.C. Cupe Administration

Welcome to all students, family, and friends of W.C. Cupe College Preparatory Schools!

I would like to tell you all how excited I am about continuing my relationship with the W.C. Cupe Schools in a more personal way now, as the Director of Schools.  I have been a consultant for the W.C. Cupe Schools for the past four and a half years and have been able to be a part of the growth that has taken place over the past few years.  It hasn’t been an easy road but with all of the hard work and support from everyone, it has been a successful journey thus far.  Thank you!

As W.C. Cupe Schools progresses into the sixth year of its academic success, we as a team look forward to meeting, seeing and working with each of you.  I strongly believe in the need for team, that there is no “I” in team so - We, the W.C. Cupe Schools staff, including our Administrative team are here for you.  If ever you have a concern, thought or suggestion regarding the education of your student or the overall school please do not hesitate to give the office a call or stop in to speak with one of us.

W.C. Cupe Schools prides itself on the mission of educating young people and providing opportunities and exposure that will contribute to the overall growth and well being of all of our partners: you the parent, family, friends and the community at large.  W.C. Cupe Schools will need the assistance of everyone involved to make our schools an even better place that what we already experience and know it to be.

            Remember, as quoted by:
August Strindberg – By attempting the impossible one can attain the highest level                                                  of the possible.
African Proverb – It takes a village to raise a child.

Sincerely,
Terry Dodds, Regional Director of Schools
