 Proposed PTSO Guidelines 2007 - 2008 School Year

PTSO MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the PTSO is to form a partnership with the W.C. Cupe Family of Schools, administration, faculty, support staff, students, and parents. An important role of this group is to act as a liaison between the W.C. Cupe Family of Schools and the parent body. An important goal of this group is to establish a team concept that addresses the needs of students and teachers in securing financial assistance to the schools through approved fundraisers and other financial initiatives.

GENERAL PTSO MEMBER EXPECTATIONS

  • To be respectful during meetings by listening to the ideas of others, expressing ideas/suggestions in a positive manner, and complying with the agenda set forth by the facilitator(s);
  • To be involved in at least 2 activities throughout the school year. Activities do not include regularly scheduled meetings;
  • To review meeting minutes available at The Parents’ Corner;
  • To notify appointed person and/or email PTSO Committee when personal information has changed (i.e., name, address, phone numbers, etc.);
  • Before planning any type of PTSO sponsored event the PTSO needs approval from the Director/School Board.
  • To give feedback to the PTSO executive so that general PTSO related issues can be addressed with the Director/School Board as appropriate;
  • To enjoy the fellowship with other parents, school staff, and students while using our time and talents to make a world of difference.

Membership in PTSO is on a voluntary basis. Members must agree to follow established guidelines. Consent to guidelines is implied when participation with PTSO begins. Guidelines will be updated as needed.

    A friendly bunch here at Mom's Online! A popular feature is the Hot Tips Categories. Tips from bathtime, the first two weeks after birth,
    diapering, getting organized, reading to your child to toilet training and travelling are found here. Other areas include Mom of the Week and avery intriguing trivia game called Daily Sphinx, where the competition is fierce and monthly prizes are awarded.

Created and supported by medical experts of Nemours Foundation. Kidshealth covers health issues for children and parents. The site is very accurate and up to date. This site includes great links on topics such as human body systems, growth food and fitness. The text is entertaining and includes links that enable users to view animations of many body systems.

National Child Care Information Center

The National Child Care Information Center (NCCIC) has been established to complement, enhance and promote child care linkages and to serve as a mechanism for supporting quality, comprehensive services for children and families. The site includes advice on finding/selecting a child care provider and links to information on child care health and safety and on child development.

FamilyEducation Network

With an introduction claiming "We're dedicated to helping you take an active role in the education of your children," the Family Education
Network makes a good case. With timely articles and expert advice columns from Boston Children's Hospital pediatricians Dr. Bernstein and
Dr. Nethersole, Family Therapist Carleton Kendrick and teacher Barbara Callaghan, a lot of answers to common family questions can be
found here. The site also contains special sections on Learning Disabilities, Health and Safety and Homework Help. I was especially intrigued by the emphasis placed on homework help, special needs and learning disabilities. This site is packed with great content and great ideas. A stopover here is well worth the time for you and your children.
